Economiics of poverty

The editorial on economics of poverty in The Hindu  has very correctly stated that governments “spend big money on social schemes without the vaguest ideas,” regarding the achievements of their  objectives . The Indian scenario is that,  a lion share of that big money is pocketed by people in charge of implementation and doesn’t reach the targeted sections.  If the Indian governments wants to take  guidance from the findings of the Nobel laureates in the filed of Development Economics, particularly for the removal of poverty, it has to undertake   two responsibilities viz., stopping  the leakages in the allotment of funds for social schemes by acting like a watch dog and then , study the  achievements of objectives  of the schemes through efficient filed studies.
